G'Day Mate!
Is all this talk of recession getting you down? Are you wondering how to spend your $950 gift from Mr Rudd?
Because seriously, if you need new equipment, right now really is a good time to buy. With the government working hard to avoid recession, the incentives have been piling on thick and fast. The new government stimulation package including 30% rebates on equipment purchases over $10K has well and truly kicked in, and when combined with record low lending rates, provides a true incentive to upgrade equipment and keep the economy bubbling along.
And what better place to capitalise on that incentive than the National Tradesman's Expo, coming up at the RNA Showgrounds, Brisbane from Friday 27 - Sunday 29 March! I know we say this every year, but this year the show really is bigger and better than ever, with something for every tradie.
If you're a builder, then you can't afford to miss the all-new Master Builders Pavilion, showcasing the latest services and products available from the MBA and its supplier partners. If you're a sparky, then you will no doubt be looking forward to the return of the Electro Expo, presented by the ECA. Construction Skills QLD - Stand A28
Construction Skills Queensland Launches Stay! Campaign to Assist Apprentice Retention
Construction Skills Queensland is launching its industry support program Stay!, to assist with apprentice retention in the Sunshine Coast region. This will include the opening of the Sunshine Coast / Wide Bay Industry Support Office Maroochydore in March.
CSQ CEO Rod Camm said that "only around 60%of all Queensland building and construction industry apprentices complete their training" and was quick to point out that "this rate cannot be sustained when the industry is in constant need of skilled tradespeople".
"Construction Skills Queensland is aware that skilled workers will be needed if Queensland is to recover quickly from the economic crisis."
The program will assist both employers and apprentices/trainees through support and advice.
Employers will be informed of the options available to retain their apprentices and trainees during tough times to prevent unnecessary cancellations of training contracts.
