Issue 5, August 2008
G'day $FirstName!
Well it's been a huge first half of the year here at Club Tradie, having just completed shows in Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth in quick succession. We now have a (very) short break before heading into our brand new venture - National Tradesman's Expo Sydney, which will take place at The Royal Hall of Industries & The Hordern Pavilion at the Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park from 29 - 31 August (only 4 weeks from now).
LEAVING MELBOURNE
But first some news on our second Melbourne show, held back at the end of May. Once again we brought together some of the top brands supplying to tradesmen and contractors in what ended up being a sell-out show. For the first time, we opened up the show to the great outdoors, where Rhys Irwin backed up his Brisbane performance and managed and Australian record of 75 inverted donuts in his S130 in Bobcat Gone Wild! Watched by hundreds of tradies Rhys spun his wheels while the crowd rocked out to local band, Hanging Rock, joined by Phoebe from The Tradie magazine. Not to be outdone, Xavier and his Tradie ladies gave away thousands of dollars worth of prizes in their trivia and arm-wrestling competitions.
One lucky tradie, Gary McElroy, a plumber from Cranbourne in Melbourne's south-east took away more than $15 grand worth of prizes in our Bucketful of Booty competition. Check out the grin on this guy!
OFF TO SYDNEY
And now we pack up our toolboxes and shift camp to Sydney for our very first New South Wales expo. We are now well underway in the planning of what promises to be a huge show at The Entertainment Quarter, where we will take over two big venues. Once again the Bobcat will be wild, Crusty Demons-stylz with Rhys at the controls. The Tradie will again give away thousands of bucks worth of prizes every day, and if you are thirsty for a drink, you can grab a beer with your mates at the fully licensed Toyota Bar. As a special treat for Sydney, the kids can have some fun with the free Bob the Builder jumping castle.
In Sydney we welcome our new partner, Gasweld, who will display and sell all the major power tool brands in a huge 1,200 square metre retail space, with some great deals and value-adds to be had. But not only that, you could meet Miss Milwaukee, roadtest the new Fein Multimaster, check out the new 2008 Light Commercial Vehicle of the Year - the Hyundai I-Load, pick up some great deals on earthmoving and excavation gear, get some great ideas on how to run your business more efficiently, or just browse and compare more than 200 brands - all on display and on sale at the expo.
So if you are like millions of other Sydney-siders, miserable about that recent State of Origin loss (let's just not talk about it, huh), then make sure you cheer yourself up and head on down to The Royal Hall of Industries & The Hordern Pavilion, Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park from Friday 29 - Sunday 31 August from 10am - 6pm, for the National Tradesman's Expo - simply the biggest event of the year for tradesmen and contractors.
See ya there
